Team Leader - Finance - Town of Gawler

Permanent, Full Time role $104,065 to $110,672 plus 9.5% superannuation.

Due to a pending staff retirement, the Council is seeking a self-motivated and strategically driven Finance specialist to lead its Finance team.

Utilising your Accounting qualifications (CPA, ICAA, IPA) and extensive experience, and your ‘can do’ mindset, the successful candidate will require excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Corporate Services, key requirements of the role include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the Finance team
  • Driving the preparation and review of Council’s Annual Budget
  • Driving the annual review of Council’s Long Term Financial Plan, to facilitate the delivery of Council’s longer term financial aspirations
  • Provision of timely and accurate financial reports to facilitate and inform effective decision making across the organisation
  • Supporting the operations of Council’s Audit Committee and implementation of the Committee’s annual workplan
  • Financial policy development, implementation and review
  • Ensuring Council’s compliance with relevant Legislation and Regulations and Australian Accounting Standards

Experience in Local Government accounting, and Civica (Authority) accounting software will be highly regarded but is not essential for this role. Some out of hours work will be required for the role, which will be managed in accordance with the flexible working arrangements provided for in Council’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
